The company is proud to announce that the original target of 105g/km CO2 for the Avis fleet has been exceeded to 98.5g/km CO2

The company's CEO Vladimir Orth announced that the achievement of this result is mainly due to the strict selection in purchasing vehicles that meet the most stringent emission limits within the EU27. The company has focused in the selection of the fleet mix mainly on smaller and medium sized low emission vehicles and PHEVs and EVs.

For commercial vehicles, where the EU has not yet set such strict limits, the Group continues to monitor the market and purchases vehicles that have the lowest limits in their class. In 2020, the CO2 emissions burden for commercial vehicles has been reduced by 11%.

The overall fleet and business across the Group in 2020 was impacted by the spread of the COVID virus.19 It is for this reason that travel and car use for business clients, who have switched to home office, has fallen to a minimum. Nevertheless, the Group quickly redirected its activities towards demand, replacing some of the lost share with new demand.

Overall, the fleet declined by -50% in 2020 , where -60% of the decline was in car rentals. However, a robust fleet of commercial vehicles expanded and began to substitute the provision of supplies for e-commerce, which replaced conventional brick-and-mortar stores. The age of vehicles in 2020 - reached 10.5 months.

Emission reduction in car purchases is still not supported by the government in Slovakia. So this own initiative is mainly a demonstration of corporate social responsibility, which in Slovakia works for the benefit of the people and the country. Customers have long been interested in safety and emissions and how they burden the surrounding environment, rather than just choosing a vehicle for transport. This is one of the key aspects of choosing an operator. Young people in particular are the carriers of this idea.

Avis is part of a global network of vehicle rental and leasing operators. The key is to highlight the fact that emissions are important for our continued healthy and trouble-free lives.
